Ontario reports 326 new COVID cases Monday

Public Health Ontario reported 326 new COVID cases today. 

The latest updates noted 369 recoveries and zero new deaths.

The Oct. 25 updates provided by the province's public health agency and the ministry of health also reported the following data:

  • 3,215 active, lab-confirmed cases, down from 3,258 yesterday. 
  • 163 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, but the number is not complete as more than 10 per cent of hospitals don't report to the daily bed census on weekends.
  • There are 109 COVID-positive patients in the ICU plus another 29 patients no longer testing positive for COVID-19.
  • There are 71 COVID-positive patients on ventilators and another 23 patients on ventilators no longer testing positive for COVID. 
  • 10,937,705 Ontarians (about 74 per cent of the total population) have been fully vaccinated. 88 per cent of eligible Ontarians have at least one dose of vaccine.
  • Included in the new cases are 183 unvaccinated, seven partially vaccinated, and 95 fully vaccinated individuals. 41 cases are listed with the vaccination status unknown. 
  • The vaccination status for hospitalized COVID-19 patients is not updated on Mondays.
  • The seven-day average incidence rate by vaccination status is six cases per 100,000 unvaccinated people, 2.5 cases per 100,000 partially vaccinated people, and 1.1 cases per 100,000 fully vaccinated people.
  • The province reported 18,397 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 1.6 per cent positivity rate.
  • Of the new cases reported today, 39 are from Toronto, 33 are from Peel, 10 are from Simcoe-Muskoka, and 31 are from York Region.
  • Today's new cases include 86 individuals under 12 years old, 35 youth between 12 and 19 years old, 88 people between 20 and 39 years old, 70 people between 40 and 59 years old, 38 people between 60 and 79 years old, and eight people over 79 years old.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 597,841 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 584,780 recoveries and 9,846 deaths.

Since the start of the pandemic, 30,468 people have been hospitalized with COVID and 5,966 of them were in intensive care units.

The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 4,057.6 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.

Ontario's average weekly incidence rate last week was 18.7 cases per 100,000 people, which is down by 9.2 per cent compared to the week of Oct. 9.

Northern Ontario

In Northern Ontario, the breakdown of Public Health Ontario data is:

  • Algoma Public Health: 504 cases, weekly rate of 5.1 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 503 cases. There are 24 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 90 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 85 per cent have both doses.
  • North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit: 801 cases, weekly rate of 8.5 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 804 cases. There are 14 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 86 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 82 per cent have both doses.
  • Porcupine Health Unit: 2,220 cases, weekly rate of 5.9  cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 2,222 cases. There are 7 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 89 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 83 per cent have both doses.
  • Public Health Sudbury and Districts: 2,670 cases, weekly rate of 59 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 2,671 cases. There are 140 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 90 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 86 per cent have both doses.
  • Timiskaming Health Unit: 241 cases, weekly rate of 20.7 cases per 100,000 people.  The health unit has reported 244 cases. There are 7 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 87 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 82 per cent have both doses.
  • Northwestern Health Unit: 1,192 cases, weekly rate of 6.2 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 1,190 cases. There are 3 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 88 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 82 per cent have both doses.
  • Thunder Bay District Health Unit: 3,412 cases, weekly rate of 5.1 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 3,405 cases. There are 8 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 93 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 88 per cent have both doses.
