Ontario reports 1,607 new COVID cases Saturday

Saturday's report includes 786 recoveries and five deaths

Public Health Ontario reported 1,607 new COVID cases today.

The latest updates noted 786 recoveries and five deaths.

The Dec. 11 updates provided by the province's public health agency and the ministry of health also reported the following data:

  • There are 10,009 active cases, up from 9,193 yesterday.
  • Of the new cases, 623 are unvaccinated, 31 are partially vaccinated and 864 are fully vaccinated. The vaccination status of 89 people is unknown.
  • 323 people are in hospital testing positive for COVID-19, up from 309 yesterday.
  • 146 people are in ICU due to COVID-19, down five from yesterday. Of those, 127 people are testing positive and 19 are testing negative. There are 94 people in ICU due to COVID on a ventilator, up four from yesterday.
  • For cases in the hospital but not ICU, 166 people are unvaccinated, 14 are partially vaccinated and 84 are fully vaccinated. In ICU, there are 68 people unvaccinated, three partially vaccinated and 25 fully vaccinated.
  • 11.3 million people in Ontario (81 per cent of the population) are fully vaccinated, 636,397 people (five per cent of the population) are partially vaccinated.
  • 1,019,023 people have received a booster since August 2021.
  • The province reported 42,205 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 4.6 per cent positivity rate.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 630,671 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 610,592 recoveries and 10,070 deaths.
