Public Health Ontario is reporting 1,429 new COVID cases today.
The latest updates also include 930 recoveries and five deaths.
The Dec. 14 updates provided by the province's public health agency and the ministry of health also reported the following data:
- There are 12,032 active cases, up from 11,538 yesterday.
- 385 people are in hospital testing positive for COVID-19.
- Included in the new cases are 493 unvaccinated, 33 partially vaccinated, and 809 fully vaccinated people. 94 cases were reported with vaccination status unknown.
- 162 people are in ICU due to COVID-19. Of those, 143 people are testing positive and 19 are testing negative. There are 98 people in an intensive care unit (ICU) due to COVID on a ventilator.
- Among the hospitalized cases not in the ICU are 130 unvaccinated people, 12 partially vaccinated people, and 85 fully vaccinated people.
- Among the cases in the ICU are 71 unvaccinated people, six partially vaccinated people, and 31 fully vaccinated people.
- 11.3 million people in Ontario (77 per cent of the population) are fully vaccinated, and five per cent of the province has one dose of COVID vaccine.
- 1.1 million people have received a booster since August 2021.
- The seven-day average incidence rate by vaccination status is 18 cases per 100,000 unvaccinated people, 7.8 cases per 100,000 partially vaccinated people, and 6.5 cases per 100,000 fully vaccinated people.
- The province reported 33,400 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 6.6 per cent positivity rate.
- Cases reported in today's update include 15 from Grey-Bruce, 68 from Simcoe-Muskoka, 239 from Toronto, 128 from York Region, and 103 from Peel Region.
- Today's new cases include 58 newborns to four-year-olds, 271 kids ages five to 11, 126 youth between 12 and 19 years old, 445 people between 20 and 39 years old, 367 people between 40 and 59 years old, 140 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 22 people over 80 years old.
Public Health Ontario has confirmed 635,112 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 612,996 recoveries and 10,084 deaths.
There have been 31,729 people hospitalized with COVID since March 2020, and 6,273 patients have been admitted to intensive care units.
The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 4,310.5 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.
Ontario's average seven-day incidence rate from Dec. 4 to Dec. 10 was 56.6 cases per 100,000 people, which is up by 26.9 per cent compared to the seven-day period starting of Nov. 28.

Northern Ontario
In Northern Ontario, the breakdown of Public Health Ontario data is:
- Algoma Public Health: 1,492 cases, weekly rate of 146 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 1,495 cases. There are 263 known active cases. Of the eligible population five years and older, 85 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 79 per cent have both doses.
- North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit: 976 cases, weekly rate of 27.8 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 977 cases. There are 44 known active cases. Of the eligible population five years and older, 83 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 79 per cent have both doses.
- Porcupine Health Unit: 2,309 cases, weekly rate of 25.9 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 2,311 cases. There are 34 known active cases. Of the eligible population five years and older, 84 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 78 per cent have both doses.
- Public Health Sudbury and Districts: 4,306 cases, weekly rate of 145.7 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 4,374 cases. There are 331 known active cases. Of the eligible population five years and older, 85 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 80 per cent have both doses.
- Timiskaming Health Unit: 446 cases, weekly rate of 88.5 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 451. There are 45 known active cases. Of the eligible population five years and older, 82 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 77 per cent have both doses.
- Northwestern Health Unit: 1,272 cases, weekly rate of 18.5 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 1,282 cases. There are 25 known active cases. Of the eligible population five years and older, 91 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 84 per cent have both doses.
- Thunder Bay District Health Unit: 3,777 cases, weekly rate of 55.8 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 3,781 cases. There are 64 known active cases. Of the eligible population five years and older, 86 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 80 per cent have both doses.
