One new COVID case, 7 recoveries reported today

One new COVID-19 case and seven recoveries are being reported by the Porcupine Health Unit today.

The new case is a person in Timmins who is the contact of a case. They are in self-isolation, according to the health unit.

To date, there have been 581 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 448 are recovered and 26 people have died. There are 107 known active cases.

So far, 28,067 have been vaccinated in the region, which is an increase of 630 from yesterday's report. There have been 29,203 doses of the vaccine administered. 

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
