One killed in 4-vehicle crash in Temiskaming Shores

A commercial motor vehicle collided with a passenger vehicle and the impact caused a collision with two other vehicles, say police

One person was killed and one person is in hospital after a serious crash on Highway 11. 

The crash happened yesterday (April 7) around 3:30 p.m. on Highway 11 at the intersection of Highway 65 in Temiskaming Shores. 

A commercial motor vehicle northbound on Highway 11, hit a passenger vehicle and the impact caused a collision with two other vehicles, said Temiskaming OPP in a news release.

One person was killed and one is in hospital. The identity of the person who died has not been released pending a post-mortem examination.

The highway was closed for more than eight hours for the investigation, which involves the OPP's Traffic Incident Management Enforcement and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario - Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. 

Including this accident, there have been at least seven fatalities on Highway 11 so far this year. There have also been a number of other serious crashes.
