One forest fire under control near Wawa: MNRF

On active forest fire is burning near Wawa just north of the Michipicoten River.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is reporting that the fire, Wawa 1, was discovered on Saturday, approximately 10 kilometres east of Highway 17.

It is under control at 0.1 of a hectare, according to the ministry.

Elsewhere in northeastern Ontario, a forest fire located near Galway Road in Trent Lakes Township, Bancroft 2, is listed as under control at 9.1 hectares.

The fire hazard is mostly low to moderate across the region,except for the southeasternmost part of the fire region, which is showing a high hazard.
