One dead, one seriously injured in snowmobile crash

KIRKLAND LAKE - On Feb. 5, 2017 shortly after 1:27 p.m. members of the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two motorized snowmobile vehicles on Beaver House Road, approximately 2 kilometres east of Dobie in Gauthier Township.

OPP investigation revealed a westbound motorized snow vehicle collided with an eastbound motorized snow vehicle. Both operators were ejected from their motor snow vehicles. They were transported to the Kirkland Lake District Hospital as a result of injuries from the collision.

The operator of one of the motorized snow vehicles, Jean Lacroix, 60 years old from Dobie Ontario, was later pronounced dead from his injuries as result of the collision.

A 22-year-male from Englehart Ontario was flown to the Sudbury Health Science North with serious, non-life threatening injuries

OPP Technical Collision Investigation Unit (TCIU) assisted in the investigation.

The Investigation is ongoing.
