One dead in Highway 11 crash

COCHRANE, ON – On May 22, 2016, at approximately 4:40 a.m., James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Cochrane District Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Cochrane Fire and Rescue were called to attend a collision on Highway 11 in Calder Township approximately 20 kilometres west of the Town of Cochrane.

A tractor trailer travelling east on Highway 11 collided with a tractor trailer travelling west on Highway 11.

The driver of the west bound tractor-trailer was transported to a local hospital, via ambulance, due to minor injuries and the passenger of the east bound tractor-trailer was transported to the hospital, via ambulance, due to serious injuries.

Both the driver and the passenger remain in hospital.

The driver of the east bound tractor trailer, Ish Kahlon, 40 years of age, of Brampton, Ontario died as a result of the collision.

OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Collision Reconstructionists are assisting with the investigation.
