Timmins, On - Northern Ontario Expo is pleased to announce it’s return to this years 2014 Sportsman Show, hosted by the Schumacher Lion’s Club. A unique event to Timmins, Northern Ontario Expo brings an assortment of sci fi and pop culture media to the Sportsman Show. Northern Ontario Expo will returning for it’s fourth year on April 26th and 27th 2014 at the McIntyre Arena in the Ballroom.

 Northern Ontario Expo, Schumacher Lion’s Club and Cedar Meadows are pleased to announce guest of honor, 3 time Olympic Gold Medal, Women’s Ice Hockey player, Meghan Agosta.  A true Canadian hero, Agosta not only helped secure the Olympic gold medal three times but also created the Meghan Agosta Foundation which provides the opportunity for children who are interested in playing hockey, but are unable to play due to financial reasons.  Agosta will be available on April 26th and 27th for autographs and photo opportunities. This year’s Artist Alley will showcase work from local talent as well as artists from across the province. Each will have their own booths where you can meet with them and browse through their work and purchase their merchandise. The Book Bin Entertainment Exchange will be hosting a Magic tournament, merchandise and retro gaming. Always a hit with Star Wars fans, the 501st Canadian Garrison (Star Wars costuming troupe) will be in attendance again this year. Fans of pop culture and sci fi will also be able to bid on signed autographs at the silent auction. Autographs from Patrick Stewart, Stan Lee, Norman Reedus and more will be available to bid on during the weekend event. The Northern Ontario Expo Costume Contest will be returning for it’s second year run and will be divided in two categories; youth and adult. This years first prize, which was donated from our sponsor Future Shop, for adults is an iPad Mini and for youth a Nintendo DS. Second prizes were donated by The Book Bin Entertainment Exchange, a 100$ gift certificate for the adults, and NEO Laser Tag donated 3 free game passes for the youth category. Mike’s Midtown Bowl has donated 5 free games for both youth and adults for third prize. Judging this years competition; Honorable Mayor Tom Laughren, Museum Curator Karen Bachmann and Party Place owner and operator Alissa Brooks. The contest will commence at 1:00 PM on Saturday April 26th. This event is made possible with the support of our local community sponsors. With their generosity, we are able to bring together an exclusive event for Northern Ontario. Northern Ontario Expo is held in conjunction with the Schumacher Lion’s Club Sportsman Show on April 26th and 27th. Both events are held at the McIntyre Arena in support of the Schumacher Lion’s Club. Entry fee for anyone over 6 years of age is 5$ and a family deal of 15$. The event opens on Saturday at 10 AM until 8 PM and Sunday from 10 AM until 5 PM.
