On November 11th, 2013, Alliance was proud to launch our new KISS campaign. KISS is an acronym from Knowledge, Individualism, Support and Self-Esteem. The objectives of our campaign is to celebrate diversity within our college community. KISS aims to increase the community’s knowledge regarding the LBGTQ+ and allies community, to emphasize the worth of each individual and celebrate individuality, providing peer-to-peer support to assist all members within the college, and ultimately increase our community’s self-esteem.
This campaign was embraced and welcomed whole-heartedly and we received a huge amount of support and encouragement throughout our launch. For this campaign, members of Alliance dressed up as walking kissing booths, handing out heresy kisses and raising awareness. We are proud to be Northern College members, and proud to be part of this exciting campaign. Comments from staff and students “we welcome this kind of enthusiasm and we really need this kind of colourful spirit within our community.” Another comment that was given was that “this is awesome, I celebrate diversity every day.” We have had so much good feedback so far, and we are excited to carry on this campaign throughout the rest of the semester and are really excited to hand off this campaign and its objectives to ALLY and the end of the year. Alliance and ALLY are working together for the greater good for community cohesion and inclusion.
