The Northern College Board of Governors will hold its first meeting of the new academic year in Kirkland Lake on Sept. 14 and 15, 2017. This meeting will see Al Spacek assume new duties as Board Chair from outgoing Chair, George Kemp from Temiskaming Shores.

“This is a particularly important meeting as the governors will be engaged in board planning and goal setting for 2017-2018,” said college President Dr. Fred Gibbons.

Among the many items on this month’s board meeting agenda is the presentation of Northern College’s Strategic Mandate Agreement, a document that forms the basis of performance measures between the college and the provincial Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development.

Once approved by the Board of Governors, the Strategic Mandate Agreement will be forwarded to the provincial government for sign-off by the Deputy Minister.

The General Session meeting of the Board of Governors is open to the public and commences at 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 15 in Boardroom A102 at the Kirkland Lake Campus.
