NEWS RELEASE

TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE

*************************
Over the Civic Holiday weekend, Timmins Police Service officers responded to over 240 calls for service.

Those calls included (but are not limited to) family disputes, noise complaints, mental health calls, domestic disputes, break and enters, thefts, harassment, assaults, 9-1-1 hang-ups and numerous traffic enforcements.

The Timmins Police Service is pleased to report that throughout the holiday weekend, no impaired driving charges were laid.

Officers did, however, hand out a number of tickets for Highway Traffic Act offences including speeding, driving while using a handheld communication device, and improper headlights, among others.

The Timmins Police Service reminds the public that the “big four” risk factors contributing to collisions involving serious injury or death are aggressive driving, distracted driving, improper seatbelt use, and impaired driving.

Avoidance of these risk factors will help to ensure the remainder of the summer is safe for everyone.
