The forest fire burning just north of the Michipicoten River near Wawa has been put out.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has reported there are no new forest fires in the northeast region today.

The only fire burning in the area is Bancroft 2, near Galway Road in Trent Lakes Township, listed as under control at 9.1 hectares.

The fire hazard is mostly low to moderate across the region, except for the southeasternmost part of the fire region, which is showing a high hazard.

To see the fire hazard near you, consult the interactive fire map at Ontario.ca/forestfire and residents of municipalities should also check for any local bylaws that may be in effect prior to burning.
