No new COVID cases reported Tuesday

For the second day in a row, no new COVID-19 cases are being reported by the Porcupine Health Unit today (Sept. 7).

Since the health unit's last report on Friday, there have been eight recoveries. 

To date, there have been 2,185 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 2,137 are recovered and 31 people have died. There are 17 known active cases — 9 in Timmins, 2 in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls, and 6 in the James Bay area.

So far, 51,433 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine. There have been 96,653 doses of the vaccine administered. Both of these numbers are the same as Friday's report.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
