No new COVID-19 cases reported Monday

No new COVID-19 cases are being reported by the Porcupine Health Unit today (Aug. 16).

Since the last update on Friday, there have been two recoveries.

The last new case was reported yesterday and is a person in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls.

To date, there have been 2,154 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 2,120 are recovered and 31 people have died. There are three known active cases — one in Timmins, one in the James Bay area and one in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls.

So far, 49,888 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine, which is an increase of 104 from Friday's report. There have been 92,438 doses of the vaccine administered.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
