No new COVID-19 cases and two recoveries are being reported by the Porcupine Health Unit today (Oct. 18).

Yesterday, one new case of the virus was reported in the Hearst and Hornepayne area.

To date, there have been 2,216 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 2,182 are recovered and 31 people have died. There are three known active cases.

There are 54,995 people who have received at least one dose of the vaccine in the region. There have been 104,718 doses administered. Both of these numbers are the same as the last report on Friday.

The COVID-19 vaccine passport is in effect. It requires proof of vaccination for people 12 years and older in certain high-risk public spaces.

New details on the digital proof-of-vaccination certificate featuring a QR code that people can use starting Oct. 22 were revealed last week. All Ontarians can now download their enhanced passport online here.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
