No new cases, 8 recoveries reported Wednesday

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Porcupine Health Unit has dropped to the single digits.

No new cases and eight recoveries are being reported today (Aug. 3). 

To date, there have been 2,149 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 2,110 are recovered and 31 people have died. There are eight known active cases — six in Timmins and two in the James Bay area.

So far, 49,497 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine, which is an increase of 31 from yesterday's report. There have been 91,100 doses of the vaccine administered.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
