GREATER SUDBURY – Thursday, Marc Serré, Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt, expressed his support for IAMGOLD Corporation’s Côté Gold Project Development in Gogama. IAMGOLD is currently assessing the potential to construct and operate a new open pit gold mine in the area.

“I strongly support the Côté Gold Project development in Gogama as it will directly and positively impact my constituency as well as Northern Ontario’s mining industry. This new mine will undeniably be a key asset and a contributing factor for growth on a local, provincial and national scale,” Serré said.

According to the Nickel Belt MP, the new open pit gold mine will provide significant economic and employment benefits to the community.

“This project development will not only catapult Gogama’s economic development, but it will also ensure that our already prominent mining sector can continue to prosper and thrive. The Côté Gold project will foster favourable conditions for growth and job creation throughout Nickel Belt-Greater Sudbury and all of Northern Ontario,” he added.

Serré has met with representatives of IAMGOLD on several occasions to discuss the benefits of the Côté Gold Project and to stay apprised of new developments.

“I am dedicated to working with IAMGOLD and the mining industry to ensure this project comes to fruition. In the meantime, I will continue to advocate for the Côté Gold project and promote the positive outcomes it will have for our overall economy and for the residents in Gogama, Nickel Belt-Greater Sudbury and all of Northern Ontario,” Serré concluded.
