TOWN OF KAPUSKASING

The Town of Kapuskasing has installed new Pay and Display units to replace parking meters.

A Pay and Display unit is a kiosk that replaces, on average, six to eight individual parking meters on a street. It allows users to pay for on-street parking using coins and provides them with a receipt.

Parking restrictions have not changed with the implementation of Pay and Display unit.

The Pay and Display units are more sustainable and utilize efficient technology.  They are operated by solar power and the use of solar power eliminates the need to replace batteries used annually to power the old parking meters.

The time is transportable: Users pay for time instead of space and will be able to move from one on-street parking area to another.

For example, if you pay for one hour and use only 15 minutes – and need to go elsewhere – you can drive and park in another on-street paid parking area using the same payment ticket on your dashboard. (Always observe the local signed parking restrictions.)

If, the unit is not functioning properly and does not provide a ticket, simply purchase your ticket at the next closest unit.

The cost for parking is $1 for one hour with the minimum initial time allocation being 15 minutes.

Citizens must, as a minimum deposit, utilize quarters (25 cents) following which other lesser coins such as dimes (10 cents) and nickels (5 cents) may be utilized.

The Pay and Display will accept as deposit both loonies and toonies on initial deposit.

Directional signs will clearly indicate the area where parking is allowed. Simply look for Pay and Display markings.

Clear instructions are on each Pay and Display units.
