New face joining Platoon 1 of the Timmins Police Service

Having successfully completing Basic Constable training at the Ontario Police College, Constable Joseph Depatie has joined the ranks of Platoon 1 with the Timmins Police Service.

He has received the necessary administrative training and statutory training this week and will be “shown the ropes” by his coach officer Const Dufour.

Const Lamarche will be filling in for Dufour for Joseph”s first set.

Joseph M. Depatie is a fluently bilingual 23-year-old life-long resident of South Porcupine who graduated from Ecole Catholique Secondaire Theriault.

Joseph pursued post-secondary education resulting in a Pre-Fire certification from Northern College and a diploma from Cambrian College in Sudbury in Community and Justice Services.

Joe’s previous work experience involved being a volunteer firefighter with the Whitney fire hall and as a crew boss with the MNRF as a wildland firefighter.

Joe is eager to contribute to the safety of our city in terms of law enforcement efforts. As well, Joe is eager to learn from his coach officer and fellow shift mates on platoon 1.

While not even on the job for 10 minutes, Joseph completed his first arrest by taking the Grinch who stole Christmas into custody. A plea bargain has been worked out in regards to this matter.
