Multiple charges result from single-vehicle collision

(SOUTH PORCUPINE, ON) – On April 2, 2016, members of the South Porcupine Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (NAPS) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 655 in Wark Township.

The driver was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries. 

As a result of the investigation, Matthew LEDUC, 29, of Smooth Rock Falls has been charged with the following offences:

  • Driving while ability impaired by alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC);
  • Care of control over 80 milligrams contrary to the (CCC); 
  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm contrary to the (CCC);
  • Resist Peace Officer contrary to the (CCC); and with
  • Mischief under $5,000 contrary to the (CCC); 

Further the driver was served with a 90 day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on May 31, 2016.
