Motorized scooter driver charged with impaired

The Timmins Police Service has arrested a local woman stemming from a traffic complaint received yesterday evening in relation to a person operating a motorized scooter in an erratic fashion in the Mount-joy Township area of Timmins. The responding Timmins Police Service officer located a woman operating a motorized scooter in the area of Shirley Street based on the complaint received.

Based on the observations made by the officer and other investigative measures, the woman was arrested and taken into custody to complete breath testing procedures at the Timmins Police station.

As a result of this incident, a 43-year-old woman from Timmins, has been charged with

  • Impaired operation contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Operate vehicle – blood alcohol concentration over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused person was released from police custody but must attend at Provincial Court in Timmins on August 13 to answer to the charges laid against her.
