Most of the lots in the west-end economic subdivision are sold

OP3 Inc., Villeneuve Engineering have each bought into the development

Only three properties are still available in the city's west-end 16-lot industrial park.

This week, Timmins council approved the sale of two properties — worth a total of more than $230,000 — in the St. Jean Avenue economic development subdivision. It means there are now 11 lots sold, two lots have sales pending, and three are still available.

The development is across from The Bucket Shop, with most of it being on St. Jean Avenue, though there are three lots on McBride. The land is being sold for $40,500 per acre.

Villeneuve Engineering and OP3 Inc. are the newest companies to buy property.

The engineering firm has bought a 3.892-acre lot for $157,641.

While there was no discussion from council members on either of the bids, the staff report says that the company plans to construct a building for its engineering consulting firm, non-destructive testing laboratory and quality control testing lab. It's expected to create 15-30 jobs.

OP3 Inc.'s picked up a 1.763-acre lot for $71,425.

According to the company's LinkedIn, it offers project management and consulting services to the mining industry. The city says the company wants to expand and build an office space with a small shop, which would double its staff complement to nine people.
