Most of Porcupine will be without water on today to allow for repairs.

Monday, Nov. 21 around 9 a.m., the City of Timmins says that water will be turned off east of the Bristol Road and Highway 101 intersection. It will be off for at least eight hours. When it is turned back on, there will be a precautionary boil water advisory.

The disruption is to allow for a water valve to be repaired, according to the city.

"The Boil Water Advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure until such time that repairs can be completed and microbiological testing can be performed," reads the news release.

"The City of Timmins will be testing the water supply to determine its potability.  The situation will be continuously monitored and all residents will be notified when the Boil Water Advisory has been lifted."

For the boil water advisory, people who draw their water from the municipal system should bring their drinking water to a rolling boil for at least one minute, says the city.
