Ahead of a strike at the Timmins airport, the parties will be back at the bargaining table, according to the Union of Canadian Transportation Employees (UCTE).

The UCTE says a mediator has ordered the city and the union back to the bargaining table.

Last week, the 19 members of the union at the Timmins Victor M. Power Airport voted in favour of strike action. The union gave its 72 hours notice yesterday.

"At this time, our members fully expect to go on strike at 6 p.m. on Monday unless a final deal is reached. People using Timmins Airport should expect that their travel may be impacted by our members peaceably exercising their constitutional right to strike," reads a statement from the union.

After the members voted in favour of taking job action, Timmins CAO Dave Landers said if the local members walk off the job, the airport would remain open.
