The City of Timmins would like to take this opportunity to clarify some stories circulating in the public regarding the health of Mayor George Pirie. Several weeks ago, Mayor Pirie suffered a medical issue that required a short stay at the hospital. He was released shortly thereafter and has been recovering at home. There are no long-term effects to his condition and he is expected to make a full recovery.
Beginning as early as next week, Mayor Pirie expects to gradually return to work. Please be advised that he will not be doing any interviews for the time being and they will be deferred to the Deputy Mayor, Andrew Marks. As Deputy Mayor, Councillor Marks has been representing Council and participating on the Municipal Emergency Control Group.
