Driver charged with impaired after pickup strikes house

At approximately 5:20 a.m. on Dec. 6, 2017, Timmins Police officers responded to a call regarding a motor vehicle collision in the area of Spruce Street South and Moneta Avenue. Reports indicated that a pick-up truck left the roadway and struck a residence.

Upon arriving on scene and speaking to the driver of the vehicle, officers noted signs of impairment. As a result, Justin Sabourin, 27, of Timmins faces charges of:

  • Impaired driving; and
  • Fail or refuse to provide breath sample

Sabourin was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of Jan. 16, 2017.

As a result of the collision, the residence sustained extensive damage. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained.

The Timmins Police Service reminds residents that the choice to drive impaired affects not only the driver, but can have negative consequences on other community members as well.

Choosing to drive impaired will be met with criminal charges. Calling a taxi, taking public transportation, walking, or calling a sober driver are all safe, smart alternatives.
