Man charged after alleged short-lived crime spree

A 21-year-old is facing a number of charges

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local person stemming from a short lived crime spree yesterday evening in the south end of the city which led to an arrest.

Responding Timmins Police Service officers investigated the original complaint and were able to determine that the suspect is alleged to have been found rummaging through a parked vehicle on Wilcox Street.

Upon being discovered, the suspect fled to a Belanger Street residence and is alleged to have caused various forms of damage to the outside portion of the building.

The suspect is further alleged to have made his way to a Commercial Street address where he gained entry and made off with household goods.

The suspect was located a short distance from the scene and arrested by the Timmins Police Service despite his physical resistance and taken into custody.

As a result of this incident, Faron Blais, 21, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • Break and enter contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 3 counts of mischief contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Trespass by night contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Resist peace officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
