The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man stemming from an investigation into the alleged attempts to sell stolen goods via a social media platform in Timmins.

Investigating Timmins Police Service officers were able to determine that a quantity of items allegedly stolen from a Timmins retailer had surfaced on a social media platform and being held out for sale by a local man.

The investigation confirmed that the clothing items in questions were in fact linked to a break and enter which had occurred earlier in the month at a local Timmins retailer, where from the items are alleged to have been taken.

The suspect was identified and located and arrested by the Timmins Police Service on Saturday March 23 without incident.

As a result of this investigation, Gilbert Gaudett, 44, of Timmins, has been charged with Trafficking in Stolen Goods contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody and is currently awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
