Timmins Police investigate robbery — lay charges

The Timmins Police Service has completed its investigation into an alleged robbery at the Timmins LCBO outlet.

During the afternoon hours of February 19, a male suspect was confronted by LCBO staff in regards to an apparent theft in progress.

The suspect became confrontational and is alleged to have made reference to having a weapon on his person.

The suspect fled the scene on foot.

The suspect had been identified and arrested by the Timmins Police Service early this morning.

While being searched in the normal course of the arrest, an edged weapon was found on the suspect’s person.

As a result, Lawrence Nakogee, 25, of Timmins has been charged with: 

  • One count of robbery with violence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • One count of carry a concealed weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • One count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Two counts of fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.
