Man accused of giving fake name in shed loitering incident

The Timmins Police Service responded to a call for service in a residential section of the city in the area of Cedar Street North early this morning. Upon arrival at the scene, Timmins Police officers located a number of persons loitering in and around an abandoned shed in the residential area.

The responding Timmins Police Service officers interviewed the persons involved and a male person is alleged to have provided a false name to the police. The man’s true identity was eventually revealed and the officers confirmed that the man is currently wanted on the strength of a warrant.

Stephen Hookimaw, 37, of Timmins was arrested on the strength of the existing warrant and also charged with:

  • Personation with intent to avoid prosecution contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody and is awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charge laid against him.
