As the Northern Policy Institute (NPI) prepares for a slightly different version of their Magnetic North conference, it has launched a new video contest, The Make Your Pitch Competition.

The contest is for videos from communities, regions or organizations with the aim of attracting migrants and immigrants to areas of the north, either through a welcoming message, or “intended to combat racism in your area,” states a release from NPI.

Supported by the Northwestern Ontario Local Immigration Partnership, the immigration partnership organizations in both Greater Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie, as well as Réseau du Nord, the deadline to submit your video is June 11 at 5 p.m., and the submissions will be judged by international and First Nations students from Northern Ontario post-secondary institutions.

A release from the organization states the Magnetic North conference attracts more than 250 attendees across northern Ontario and will be held June 22 and 23. The videos will be showcased at the conference and displayed on the Magnetic North website.

Submissions are encouraged in any language, but if the language is other than the official French or English, the organizers ask for a translation into English.

To enter the contest, send a video file with the name of the community the video represents and your contact information to [email protected]. Winners will be contacted by June 17.
