Losing Your Licence May Be a Good Indicator Not to Drive - Haileybury OPP Appear to Agree

(HAILEYBURY, ON) A member of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on patrol when they observed a suspended driver behind the wheel.

(HAILEYBURY, ON)  A member of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on patrol when they observed a suspended driver behind the wheel. 

The 18-year-old female tried to evade police on Lakeshore Road in Haileybury on July 26, 2013 at approximately 6:50 p.m.

A vehicle stop was conducted within a short distance.  Further investigation resulted in several charges.

Samaria MAZAN of Cobalt is charged with Failing to Provide Breath Sample – section 254(5) of the Criminal Code, Obstruct Peace Officer – section 129(a) of the Criminal Code, Dangerous Operation – section 249(1)(a) of the Criminal Code, Drive Disqualified – section 259(4)(a) of the Criminal Code, Fail to Comply with Probation Order – section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code, Operate motor vehicle without insurance – section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act, and Driving while under suspension – section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act

Accused will appear in Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on August 30, 2013.
