Northern Ontario Book Fair 
Saturday, Aug. 20, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Third Avenue between Pine and Balsam

This annual event is a chance for Northern Ontario authors to get together to learn, network and sell books. Some of the notable names on this year's lineup is Timmins’ own Paul Toffanello, author of the popular Popchuck’s Ghost series, Sudbury’s Anne Marie Mawhiney, author of Spindrifts, and North Bay’s award-winning novelist Rod Carley, author of many titles including Kinmount and Grin Reaping. If it's raining, the fair will be set up inside the former Tweed & Hickory building at 227 Third Ave.

Annual Car Show 
Saturday, Aug. 20, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. 
Porcupine Mall

The East End Road Rebel's annual event is setting up in the parking lot in front of Giant Tiger. Participating vehicles should bring non-perishable food items as an entry fee. The event is in support of the South Porcupine Food Bank.

Filipino Fiesta 
Saturday, Aug. 20, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. 
Balsam Street South

The first-ever event is being held in front of Lady Luck Restaurant. For the celebration, Third Avenue will be closed from Cedar Street to Balsam and Balsa is closed from Third to the municipal parking lot.

Mountjoy Farmers’ Market 
Saturday, Aug. 20, 9 a.m. - noon 
537 Pavilion Dr.

The popular market is back in a new location, across the road from its previous site. Shop from local producers and artisans at this weekly market.

Community Breakfast 
Sunday, Aug. 21, 9 a.m. - noon
Connaught Community Centre, 6825 Frederickhouse Lake Road 

Stop by to enjoy a variety of breakfast food, including eggs, homemade beans, pancakes, bacon, sausage, home fries and more. The cost is $15 for adults, $8 for kids ages six to 10 years, and free for kids five and under. It's hosted by the Connaught Community Association and is a fundraiser for the sports court.

Connaught & District Pioneer Museum
Wednesday-Sunday, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Connaught Road

Learn about local history at this attraction, which offers free admission. Every Saturday there are free hot dogs served up for visitors from noon to 3 p.m.

Splash 'N Go
Runs until Aug. 30
Bigwater Campground 

This floating waterpark is fun for all ages. Each day there are four, 1.5-hour sessions available. The park is open rain or shine, except for thunder and lightning. Passes are $25 per person, including tax. For groups of five or more a discount is automatically applied at the online checkout. Passes are available online here.
