It's fairy tale week! Stop by to play games and do crafts. Dress up as your favourite book character, watch performances of classic fairy tales, and bring a book for a book swap.

Community Cleanup
Wednesday, Aug. 10, 5 p.m.
Rotary Trail

Join volunteers to help clean up local trails. Garbage bags and gloves are provided, however, bringing your own reusable gloves is recommended. This week’s group is meeting in the McIntyre Community Centre parking lot.

Summer Concert Series

Catch Mr. Bill at 6 p.m., Trish & Darcy at 7 p.m., Chad Beaulieu at 7:50 p.m. and Milky Whites and the Bluesmen at 8 p.m.The YMCA is collecting donations for the food bank.

Mine! The musical

Timmins Museum: NEC

Performed and written by South Porcupine native Will Gillespie, this one-man show will take you through true stories and legends of the Porcupine Gold Rush. The Wednesday show is sold out. Tickets are free and available at the museum.

Welcome to Timmins Night 
Wednesday, Aug. 17, 6-8 p.m.
Third Avenue, Downtown Timmins

The free event showcases community groups and information, including municipal services, social clubs, health, academic, sports, recreation, culture and volunteer organizations. Donations are also being collected for the South Porcupine Food Bank.

Urban Park Market 
Thursday, Aug. 18, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Stock up on local produce and shop local businesses at this weekly market hosted by the Downtown Timmins BIA.

Northern Ontario Book Fair 
Saturday, Aug. 20, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Third Avenue between Pine and Balsam

This annual event is a chance for Northern Ontario authors to get together to learn, network and sell books. Some of the notable names on this year's lineup is Timmins’ own Paul Toffanello, author of the popular Popchuck’s Ghost series, Sudbury’s Anne Marie Mawhiney, author of Spindrifts, and North Bay’s award-winning novelist Rod Carley, author of many titles including Kinmount and Grin Reaping.

Mountjoy Farmers’ Market 
Saturday, Aug. 20, 9 a.m. - noon 
537 Pavilion Dr.

The popular market is back in a new location, across the road from its previous site. Shop from local producers and artisans at this weekly market.

Connaught & District Pioneer Museum
Wednesday-Sunday, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Connaught Road

Learn about local history at this attraction, which offers free admission. Every Saturday there are free hot dogs served up for visitors from noon to 3 p.m.

Art Show and Sale 
Runs until Aug. 15
Timmins Museum: NEC

Emerging and established artists’ work is on display in the Grey Gallery. Everyone is welcome to attend. Work on display is for sale and the buyer can take it home immediately. When a piece sells, the artist is invited to bring in another piece, which means the show also promises to be ever-changing.

Splash 'N Go
Runs until Aug. 30
Bigwater Campground 

This floating waterpark is fun for all ages. Each day there are four, 1.5-hour sessions available. The park is open rain or shine, except for thunder and lightning. Passes are $25 per person, including tax. For groups of five or more a discount is automatically applied at the online checkout. Passes are available online here.
