The Chamber is pleased to announce the launch of a newly revamped community calendar that hopes to better align and promote locally-run events in a more convenient, eye-catching way.

For years, The Chamber has administered the locally agreed upon central calendar to mitigate duplication, event overlap and ensure that community-driven events receive a boost in promotion—all free of cost. With the City of Timmins and Tourism Timmins all pointing towards the calendar, The Chamber will now encourage those posting to share graphics, flyers, posters, and call to action items to bring even more attention to their events.

"The Chamber is widely recognized as a community connector between business and our non-profit community and hosting the coordinated calendar was a natural fit," said Melanie Verreault, president of The Chamber. "With the support of the Venture Centre's Community Recovery Fund, we were able to explore a new interface, bringing the calendar into 2021 standards, while allowing those submitting events with more autonomy and creativity in posting to the calendar."

While Timmins boasts a wide and diverse variety of events each year, virtually or otherwise, the calendar seeks to assist organizations in their event planning—choosing a date and time so as not to overlap and exhaust an attendance base. As more virtual events continue to roll out, businesses, organizations, art circles, and charities are urged to utilize the community calendar and share it openly with their networks.

"The Community Recovery Fund was meant to assist in projects that promote growth and viability within Timmins, and this project was selected because it adhered to the spirit of the fund," said Roxanne Daoust, executive director for the Venture Centre. "The Venture Centre is pleased to support the community calendar because it promotes good news stories in our city at no cost to the organizer."
