Local woman facing impaired charges following collision

The month of January saw one individual charged with impaired driving-related charges following a single motor vehicle collision.

On Jan. 26, at approximately 3:20 p.m., police were advised of a motor vehicle collision in the area of Highway 655 and Ross Ave. Upon arriving on scene and speaking to the driver of the vehicle, officers noted signs of impairment.

Following an investigation, Amanda Morrison, 38, of Timmins faces charges of:

  • Care and control of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol; and
  • Care and control of a motor vehicle with more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood

Morrison was released on a Promise to Appear, with a court date of Feb. 13, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice.

Although January has seen a reduction in the number of impaired driving charges, police remind residents that the goal remains zero. Residents are reminded to report suspected impaired drivers to police by calling 9-1-1.
