Local woman accused of giving police fake name

The woman was found to be in contravention of strict court conditions, including a curfew, imposed by the Provincial Court stemming from previous charges

While completing general patrol of the downtown core during the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 26, a Timmins Police Service officer noted suspicious activity in behind a local business and was about to interview the woman involved when she fled the scene on foot. The officer eventually located the woman whereupon she is alleged to have provided a false name to the officer.

A second Timmins Police officer attended the scene and confirmed the woman’s genuine identity. Further investigation revealed that the woman was found to be in contravention of strict court conditions, including a curfew, imposed by the Provincial Court stemming from previous charges.

As a result, Shara McBean, 30, of Timmins has been arrested and charged with:

  • Personation with intent to avoid arrest contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Breach of recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused has been held in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated to take place this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.
