Local vaccine clinics expand to include more people

People over 50, more essential workers can now book

People 50 years and up and priority essential workers can book a COVID-19 vaccine appointment in the Porcupine Health Unit region.

Upcoming clinics are being held across the district using Moderna. The only exception to the vaccine is in Timmins, which may also use the Pfizer vaccine.

Along with people who are 50 years and older, the first group of essential workers who cannot work from home can also book an appointment. The first group of essential workers includes:

  • Elementary and secondary school workers such as teachers, janitors, school bus drivers and administrative staff
  • Workers responding to critical events such as children's aid society workers, emergency management, police, fire, and special constables 
  • Enforcement, inspection and compliance roles
  • People working in childcare, including all licensees, employees and students on an educational placement who interact directly with children in licensed childcare centres and in authorized recreation and skill building programs; and licensed in-home childcare service providers, its employees and students on educational placement 
  • Foster care agency workers 
  • Food manufacturing and distribution workers
  • Agriculture and farm workers 
  • Funeral, crematorium and cemetery workers

People who are eligible need to bring proof of employment to the clinic. Examples of proof are a workplace ID or badge, professional identification number, statement of professional insurance or letter of employment.

Appointments are required for clinics. Walk-ins will not be accepted.
