The Timmins Police Service responded to a call for service in regards to a theft of items from a local grocery store during the early afternoon hours of Sunday, Sept. 2. Upon arrival at the scene, Timmins Police Service officers were apprised of the event by a loss prevention officer.
The alleged thief fled the store but was located a short while later. A thorough investigation was completed in regards to the theft.
Justin Lavoie, 26, of Timmins, has been arrested and charged with:
- Theft under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Possession of property obtained by crime – under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused was released from police custody on the strength of a promise to appear requiring that the attend at Provincial Court in Timmins on Oct. 16 to answer to the charges laid against him.
