Dear Editor,

The 2019 edition of Summer Concert Series has come to an end and by all accounts, this year's event was again a resounding success. Over a 10-week period many residents and visitors made their way to the Schumacher Lion’s Club McIntyre Park and/or Bannerman Park, to enjoy free music featuring 46 bands/artists all with a connection to the City.

The weekly event proved popular for the residents who call Timmins home or those visiting the City of Timmins from southern Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick or the USA. Many more living in nearby communities made the trip to our City week after week to enjoy first rate, homegrown talent while supporting the City's hospitality industry and retail sector.

A special thank you goes out to event co-host, DJ Taz who supplied sound and back-line week- in and week-out and to our sponsors McIntyre Park: James Toyota, Tim Hortons, La Caisse Populaire Allliance Timmins and ERSS and Bannerman Park sponsors : Newmont Goldcorp, Tahoe Canada, Creviers East End Service Station, Norfab, Stinson Funeral Home, Roztek, and Giant Tiger.

Your generous contribution allowed us to feature 14 concert nights over a 10-week period.

Thanks to Timmins Police Service Youth in Policing Initiative for assisting with the weekly surveys.

I want to thank our local media for providing unpaid media allowing us the benefit of promoting this event each and every week to residents of Timmins and those living in the Greater Timmins Area.

Thanks to all of the participating musicians for making this event the success that it is. I hope that your participation in the Summer Concert Series will open doors and provide you with added exposure as you go forward with your musical careers.

Thanks to everyone who took time to attend and support, through a voluntary admission, the 2 food banks. Your generosity will help nourish many young minds as they return to school!

If you are a musician and you are interested in playing Summer Concert Series 2020, drop me a line I want to hear from you.
