After a fire in November of 2015 caused irreparable damage to the mid-town landmark, Centre Culturel LaRonde faced demolition this week, beginning on Monday afternoon.
The building housed a bar, an art gallery, a community hall, as well as a restaurant, where the fire originated.
In early November of 2016 city council agreed to waive the tipping fees for the demolition project, which could mean up to $200,000 less in the city coffers.
