NEWS RELEASE
KLINGON ASSAULT GROUP - TIMMINS
*********************
On Monday, April 16 at 10 a.m., the City of Timmins shall raise the flag of the Klingon Empire and declare the coming of the Klingon Rumpus!

Songs shall be sung, drinks shall be had, and the Klingon flag shall fly once more over the City of Timmins. The Klingon Assault Group is throwing a party the weekend of April 21-22, with Klingons coming from Toronto, Chicago, Sudbury, and North Bay. These warriors have also partnered with the cities two local breweries to raise funds for veterans’ services while they are at it.

“We believe as people who dress up and play warriors, we have a duty to raise awareness and support for those true warriors whom have served our nation,” said Peter Hutchison, one of the organizers of the event.

The official charity for the weekend will be Wounded Warriors Canada, a group which focuses on providing for the unique needs of veterans living with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Both Full Beard Brewing Co. and Compass Brewing are creating unique beers in honour of the event and will be donating a portion of funds raised or donated to Wounded Warriors Canada.

The main attraction for the public to the Klingon Rumpus will be a live performance by the Klingon Pop Warrior at The Working Class bar on Saturday April 21. Doors will open at 8 PM, when the City of Timmins will be treated to its first ever Klingon concert.

Usellis took notice of what has been happening in the City of Timmins over the past few years with our local band of alien warriors invading City Hall, raising their flag over the city, and causing general mischief and mayhem of the best kind wherever they go. With Comicon Timmins happening the weekend of her birthday, she decided this was the perfect time to launch an invasion of her own.

“We are very excited for the opportunity to host The Klingon Pop Warrior,” Hutchison said. “Jen’s voice is incredibly powerful, and since her songs are covers of popular songs everyone already knows, they feel familiar even in an alien language.”

Tickets are $5 and are available at The Working Class, Full Beard Brewing Co., and Compass Brewing. The evening will also feature a Star Trek charity auction with goods donated by members of the cast of Star Trek Discovery.

The roving band of aliens will be appearing at various locations throughout the city over the weekend, bringing the Rumpus with them wherever they go. For more information about the Klingon Rumpus, click here.
