KIRKLAND LAKE - On Tuesday, March 12, 2019, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a theft at a store located on Government Road West, in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ont.
As a result of the investigation police have arrested and charged a local male.
Jonathan Welch, 30 years of age, of Kirkland Lake, Ont., is charged with:
- Theft under $5,000 - shoplifting, contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code (CC), and
- Fail to comply with probation order (three counts), contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake, Ont. on April 18, 2019.
