Kirkland Lake man accused of assaulting someone with a cane

It is alleged that he was trying to instigate a fight

KIRKLAND LAKE  - On Sept. 6, 2019, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault on Taylor Avenue in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario.

Further investigation revealed that the accused confronted the victim striking him with his cane and tried to instigate a fight.

As a result, Frank Rocheleau, age 64, from Kirkland Lake, was charged with the following:

  • Assault with a weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Fail to comply with conditions of undertaking, contrary to section 145(5.1) of the CC, and
  • Fail to comply with probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice by video, on Sept. 11, 2019.
