Kapuskasing teen driving vehicle with no muffler, ratchet strapped bumper charged

Police say the initial traffic stop was for accelerating too loudly

A Kapuskasing teen is facing a number of charges after being stopped for accelerating loudly.

KAPUSKASING - A teen is facing a handful of charges after being pulled over for accelerating loudly. 

On Jan. 25 just before 10 p.m., James Bay OPP pulled over a vehicle that accelerated loudly on Government Road in Kapuskasing.

Police said the vehicle had no muffler, and the rear bumper was ratchet strapped to the tailgate. 

An 18-year-old from Kapuskasing is charged with operate unsafe vehicle, improper muffler, use plate not authorized for vehicle, no mudguards, and unnecessary noise.

The accused will appear in a Kapuskasing court, but the date is not known yet. 

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
