Jurassic Park is coming to Timmins.

Basketball fans will be able to cheer on the Toronto Raptors as they take on the Golden State Warriors in the NBA finals.

The Jurassic Park viewing party is at the McIntyre Arena starting game five Monday, June 10.

It's all being organized by Derek Seguin.

Local hockey fans know him as the captain of the Timmins Rock. He’s also a huge Raptors fan and says he’s been cheering on the team since playing ball in middle school.

With the Raptors in the finals, he’s been seeing news stories about Jurassic Park viewing parties popping up throughout the nation.

One hadn’t been organized locally, so he put out some feelers.

“This community has given me so much throughout the last two years, so much support with the Rock and my hockey, this would be a nice thing to give back to them,” he said.

The game will be shown on two, 12x7 screens, there’s a DJ, and room for upwards of 1,000 fans on the arena floor.

Seguin is encouraging people of all ages to come out.

Admission is free, however donations of cash or non-perishable food items are being collected at the door for the Timmins Food Bank. There will also be a 50/50 draw.

It’s a licensed event with a cash bar, food will also be available to buy.

Kia of Timmins and NAPA Auto Parts have stepped up as sponsors.

Seguin said there are still quite a few costs to cover if other businesses want to sponsor the viewing event.
