It's Diabetes Awareness Month in the City of Timmins.
Every year in November, the campaign brings awareness to diabetes.
According to diabetes.ca, one in three Canadians has diabetes or prediabetes, with people who are 20 years old now facing a 50 per cent chance of developing the disease.
In Timmins, the Victoria Order of Nurses (VON) Porcupine branch has a Diabetes Education Centre in the 101 Mall.
People can meet the VON Diabetes Education Nov. 26 from 1 - 3 p.m. and get a free diabetes risk assessment. The centre is located in the 101 Mall on the second floor in Suite 139.
