It's Alzheimer Awareness Month in Timmins.

The event was proclaimed by Mayor George Pirie this week.

To mark the event, the Alzheimer Society is launching a four-part short film series following Alicia, a mother and grandmother living with Alzheimer's, along with her family.

“We are so thankful to Alicia and her family for sharing their important story,” said Tracy Koskamp-Bergeron,  Timmins-Porcupine district executive director, in a news release.

“Their story helps represent the other 1.1 million  Canadians who are currently affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia and reminds us about the importance of support  and the power of love.”
