The brisk winter weather that had everyone sharing screenshots of just how cold it was on Saturday set a new cold temperature record.
Jan. 15, the lowest temperature recorded in Timmins was -41.5 C, according to Environment Canada. With the windchill, the temperature on Saturday was around -50.
That beats the previous record that was over 50 years old.
Back in 1965, the mercury dropped to -40.6.
The warmest Jan. 15 in the books is 1973 when it was -0.6.
